Eric
has always believed in balancing his profession with outdoor activities
and environmental protection. Born in Hawaii and spending most of
his life within a mile or two of the Pacific Ocean, Eric has always
enjoyed, and appreciated, the ocean. As a teenager, he competed in
surfing and took 2nd place in the 1980 ASA California State Surfing
Championships.
Before becoming an attorney he owned a kayak school and was the 1988,
’89, and ’90 Surf Kayak World Champion. Environmental
activism has always been a part of Eric’s life, from an internship
with the Environmental Defense Center in Santa Barbara, to the Sea
Turtle Project in Bahia De Los Angeles in Baja, to his current work
as a volunteer helping with English translation of signs for Thailand’s
National Park System and his Thailand Lands Project.
His work allows him to pursue another favorite hobby, travel.
