California. He was educated in California from elementary school through
law school .
Eric Hanscom graduated with High Honors from U.C. Santa Barbara, where he

Mr. Hanscom’s science background in combination with his former

Asia (with branch offices in Hong Kong and Thailand), and has an inside knowledge
of the Asian manufacturing scene.
A personal update from Eric:
Since I founded my law business in 1995, I have had many unique and exciting experiences, both in terms of places I have visited and inventors and inventions I have had the honor of working with. None of these experiences, however, can compare to the enjoyment I have had with my young son, Martin Seerah Hanscom. With the hours I was working each day, and realized pretty quickly that if I wanted to be anything other than “that guy who comes home to eat late at night”, I needed to spend less time at the office and more time at home. The end result has been that I now work out of my house and no longer rent an outside office. This has worked out quite well for me, as I get to watch my son grow up every day and can hold him while I browse patents on the USPTO website. I expect the current situation to continue for at least a couple of years, until he heads off to school. So, until then, don’t be surprised if you hear a baby in the background, and my new “conference room” is my wife’s and my living room. Please excuse the informality (and be grateful that my revised rates do not include payment for an office, secretary, fancy oil paintings on the wall, etc.).
